About us

About us

The Academy Grimsby continues to go from strength to strength. After just four operational years we have a thriving, exciting school dedicated to improving the life chances of its young people.

In addition, Ofsted recently rated TAG as ‘Outstanding’, a truly magnificent achievement in such as short space of time.

We had over 250 students join at the start of this academic year and have a healthy waiting list.  Our students are aspirational and academic. We expect the majority of them to achieve the highest grades at GCSE level and in their vocational subjects. The prior attainment of our cohorts puts TAG on a par with high-performing local schools.

They are choosing TAG because of:

  • Small class sizes – maximum 18 in core lessons
  • Vocational subjects
  • Varied curriculum, focused on making academic progress
  • Qualified and experienced staff
  • Tremendous enrichment opportunities

The Academy Grimsby is all about choice. If your child wants to choose a pathway in Health Care, they can. If they want to acquire some real industry experience in their chosen career, no problem.

If the EBACC qualification is for them, it is available. We offer exactly what all schools offer; high-quality academic GCSEs in a wide range of subjects, including Maths, English and Triple Science.

It is the extra choice that makes us unique – technical and professional pathways in popular sectors allowing our students to get the very best and balanced education in the region.

Plus, the guarantee that all core subject classes, irrespective of ability range, will be no bigger than 18. This means that all of our students are taught in a personalised environment, focused on stretching their learning.
Once our students leave us they have even more choices; Follow the technical and professional route, try something more academic, or a mixture of both. Plus, the industry links being established will potentially open doors to Apprenticeships and work experience at post-16.

We also have three brand new pathways for 2018:

Hair and Beauty

Animal Care

We have friendly dedicated staff who work tirelessly inside and outside the classroom to push the students learning further, a recent example being the weather balloons we sent into space.

We have also competed locally at a number of sporting events and this will continue to flourish.  Indeed, our year 11 footballers won the schools’ Cup last year and several athletes came first in District Sports.

We have our very own campus, with innovative design and the latest industry-standard facilities and a capacity for growth; Phase 4 of the building work, comprising of new classrooms, engineering rooms and other spaces has just been completed.

We are currently expanding and have limited places available for September 2019.  We expect to be full, so please apply now if you want the chance to come to the area’s newest Outstanding school.
