TAG students score big at first Football Match

Students from The Academy Grimsby (TAG) recently proved they are just as talented on the pitch as they are in the classroom when they won their first match.

The match started off well, TAG playing the ball about and it was sent up the field by Ross Green, Jack Paddison ran onto the through ball and fished the run with the ball in the back of the net. About five minutes later Immingham equalised with an own goal from Brad Rex, but our heads didn’t drop and with a passing streak carrying on Ross Green bombed it down the wing a cut across the defender and smashed the ball into the bottom corner finishing the first half on a high. We started the second half with Harleigh Bowler coming on for Jack Paddison and Harvey Philips came on for Rogan Chalk, the first half started really well with Harleigh Bowler getting the first goal of the half with an assist from Tom Darwood.

Immingham took the centre not dropping their heads and keeping possession with a shot on goal Tyler Denson saved it and took a massive kick down the pitch, Tom Darwood headed the ball to Harleigh and with a first time volley Harleigh sent the ball flying into top corner and left the crowd stunned. With about 20 minutes to go Rogan and Jack Paddison come back on and Harvey and Brook come off. five minutes into Jack being on the pitch and sends Harleigh a super through ball and Harleigh finishes the game off with another goal making a hat-trick for Harleigh. It was a super performance from TAG.

Harleigh Bowler said: “I am delighted to have come off the bench and score 3 goals, I hope this proves I am good enough to be in the starting eleven next week.”
