Students say:
I’m a different person since coming to The Academy Grimsby. I got the help I needed here and now I’m excited for the future.
I came to The Academy Grimsby because they were more accepting and there was more focus on the creative side of education rather than PE and athletics.
I was home schooled before coming to The Academy Grimsby, so wanted to study for my GCSEs in smaller class sizes where I wouldn’t feel too overwhelmed.
I passed all my sciences even though I thought I would fail physics, because at my previous school I was failing both physics and chemistry.
I really enjoyed my time here and am now moving on to Career 6 to study sociology, psychology and English Literature. I want to be a teacher.
I’m feeling really happy, I thought it would be a lot worse! I put everything I can into my exams though and can’t ask for anything else.
I decided to come to The Academy Grimsby because the pathway options were more practical. There just seemed to be better options available here that would suit me and my style of learning.
I decided to come to The Academy Grimsby because I wanted a sense of individuality and a little bit more freedom.
If you’re considering coming to The Academy Grimsby, I’d recommend coming and having a look around to see the campus for yourself. My Dad wasn’t sure about me coming here at first, but as soon as he stepped foot inside the building he was convinced. He saw the amazing facilities and knew it was the right place for me.
The school I had been at before The Academy Grimsby was just too big. There were hundreds of pupils and you could just get lost. The Academy Grimsby is different. Your questions are answered, and you get the support you need. You’re not ‘lost in the crowd’.

Current employment trends are reflected in the pathways on offer including Engineering, Health & Care, Construction Trades, Gaming & Coding, Hair & Beauty, Animal Care, Automotive, Public Services & Sport, Drama, Art & Design and Academic Pathways.
Pathways Explained
The Academy Grimsby focuses on the main GCSE subjects for 60% of teaching time. The
rest of the curriculum is a combination of specialist pathway learning (some with BTEC qualifications), enrichment and work experience.
Each pathway has been designed to reflect current industry trends to give you a head start in the career area of your choice. Students will choose one pathway in which you will train in alongside core GCSEs. Our highly technical and professional pathways include; Engineering, Health & Care, Construction Trades, Gaming & Coding, Hair & Beauty, Animal Care, Automotive, Public Services & Sport, Drama, Art & Design, and Academic Pathways.
All our pathways are taught and assessed by tutors with specific and recent industry experience, ensuring that these subjects are up-to-date and relevant. Training takes place in realistic working environments which include workshops, studios, care suites and salons, either onsite or at our Grimsby Institute campuses. We work closely with our industry partners to give young people the chance to make an early start in building the skills and experience to be successful later in life.
