What were your first impressions of The Academy Grimsby?

I came in 2016 and as soon as I came here, I was pushed out of my comfort zone in absolutely the right way. The performing arts pathway made me want to pursue what I love doing – something which I had initially discounted as I didn’t think it would get me anywhere – especially not uni.

What did you enjoy most about the pathway?

Having access to Grimsby Institute allowed us access to incredible facilities.  We did shows, we saw how the theatres worked and it gave us insight into everything behind the scenes. It also made me realise just how fantastic the teachers at Grimsby Institute are and showed me that it was where I wanted to do the next level of my education after the Academy.

How has The Academy Grimsby helped you decide what’s next?

After moving on to complete the performing arts course at the Grimsby Institute, I’m going to Momentum – which is just outside London – to do the course that I’ve dreamt about since I was little. It has 100% has changed my life. Everything about my life has changed because of The Academy Grimsby. I really wouldn’t have dreamed of getting into uni, and I’m so excited.
