Important Covid-19 Update: March Return

We are really excited to welcome you back on the 8 March. We will be in touch with specific details, but here are the key things you need to know for now.

  • Both year groups will be starting back w/c 8 March
  • You will be ‘bubbled’ in your groups just as you were before Christmas. This is to reduce the risk of Covid transmission.
  • Your timetable will continue as normal.
  • We will try and prioritise any practical skills you have missed during lockdown.

Face Coverings

The government have asked that face coverings are now worn indoors where social distancing cannot be maintained. This now includes our teaching spaces which means we are requesting that you wear a face covering in class. Existing exemptions for students with medical conditions will still be in place as are exemptions for our hearing-impaired students and staff.

Face coverings must be worn on college transport, unless you have a legitimate exemption.

Testing:

We already have a testing facility in the Corner Lounge at the University Centre, this will remain, but it will be joined by other facilities at Skegness, The Academy Grimsby and our Nunsthorpe Campus.

You will be offered the opportunity to take 3 lateral flow tests when you start back on 8 March. The tests should be 3-5 days apart. After this point we will make home testing kits available for learners who want them. All Covid testing is voluntary and we will send you information on how to book a test shortly.

Qualifications Guidance

The guidance on exams and qualifications has just been released today and we are working through it to see what it means for your particular subjects. Your teachers will keep you updated.

Friday 5 March

Friday 5 March will be a non-teaching day for you and your teachers. This is so your teachers can come into the building and make sure everything is organised and ready and to allow you a day to get everything ready you need for the following week.

Until we see you w/c March 8, continue to work hard in your online sessions and stay safe. We will be working really hard over the next week to get the buildings and workshops ready for you and we can’t wait to see you again.
