Welcome Back! A message to all our learners

We’re delighted to welcome our learners and teachers back on Monday 8th March. We’ve missed the hustle and bustle of life at The Academy Grimsby and want to thank you for your support and dedication to learning at home for the last few months. It’s been a challenge and I know we’re all looking forward to getting back to a bit of normality.

At The Academy Grimsby, we’re following all government guidelines to make your return as safe as possible.

Some key points for learners:

  • Both year groups will be starting back on Monday 8th March
  • Social distancing will remain in place
  • Face coverings must be worn indoors where social distancing cannot be maintained (including in classrooms)
  • You will be ‘bubbled’ in your year groups
  • Your timetable will continue as normal
  • We will try and prioritise any practical skills you have missed during lockdown

Face coverings

The government has asked that face coverings are now worn indoors where social distancing can’t be maintained. This now includes our teaching spaces. This means that you now need to wear a face covering in class. Existing exemptions for learners with medical conditions will still be in place as are exemptions for our hearing-impaired learners and staff.

Face coverings must also be worn on The Academy Grimsby transport, unless you have a legitimate exemption.

Testing

We already have a testing facility in the Corner Lounge at the University Centre Grimsby. This will remain, but it will be joined by other facilities at Skegness, The Academy Grimsby and the Nunsthorpe Campus.

You will be offered the opportunity to take three lateral flow tests when you start back on 8th March. The tests should be 3 – 5 days apart. After this point, we will make home testing kits available for learners who want them. All Covid testing is voluntary and you’ll receive all of the information on how to book a test very soon.
